YOUTH

  • Grades: Kindergarten – 5th
  • Thursdays
  • 6:00 – 7:00 PM

TEEN

  • Grades: 6th – 12th
  • Thursdays
  • 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Monthly Registration: $10/class
Drop-in Rate: $15/class (only possible in 1st & 2nd weeks of each month)

Students may enroll in the program during the first or second week of any month during the semester (January being the exception as the program begins the week of January 23rd). The reason we discourage registration in the 3rd-5th weeks of the month is that classes are progressive and build on the information from the previous weeks.

Schedule

Both youth and teen classes will coincide with the school semester with appropriate breaks for holidays (i.e. spring break).

Classes will meet once a week for each age group and will last for two hours. The Youth classes will have a 15-minute warm up period and a 15-minute break for water and stretching between classes. The first class of each evening will cover the Standard Ballroom dance of the month (i.e. Waltz, Tango, Quickstep or Foxtrot) and the second class will cover the Latin Ballroom dance of the month (i.e. Cha cha, Rumba, Samba or Jive)

Important Dates:

January 22nd and 24th – First Week of Classes
March 13th or 15th – No Classes during Spring Break
May 21st and 23rd – Last Week of Classes
Saturday May 25th – (6:00-7:00) Spring Youth Recital, (7:00-9:00) Teen Performances and Spring Dance

Youth Objectives

This program will lead students through the basic syllabus figures for Latin and Standard Ballroom Dances to prepare students for social, performance and/or competitive dance. Classes will include lessons in musicality, body movement and partnering. The program will culminate in a performance to provide a positive experience for students to prepare for and showcase the progress of students through the semester.

Teen Objectives

The teen program will teach students the basic steps of Latin and Standard Ballroom dances. Classes will provide a fun and exciting environment for learning dance and enjoying social and physical activity. We have a program designed to keep your teens interested and eager to learn more. Teens will have the opportunity to perform as individuals or on a performance team at the end of the semester.

GOALS:

  • Learn basic Latin & Ballroom steps
  • Enjoy dancing in a positive and social environment
  • Enjoy healthy and fun physical activity
